Color Play Friday: 80's Skate Party

Sticking with last week's idea of trying to develop a new palette for a second Gypsy Wife quilt I focused on picking colors and fabric I thought would work will in the quilt. I think most of my upcoming #colorplayfriday posts will be focused on this idea until I secure a final palette because I've decided I'm definitely making Gypsy Wife again!!! (I'll post more details about Gypsy Wife and my second wife, hahaha! later this month when we are ready to launch the scrap fabric giveaway.

As I was adding all the fabric links I remembered one other thing that played a part in the fabrics this week -I chose fabrics from some of my most favorite designers. Obviously there are so many I'm excited to see at Quilt Market, but these are just a few that happened to have the fabrics I needed for this bundle.

The Fabrics:
(All from Quilting Mayhem of course, since that is where I will be teaching!)

This week I finished working on Gypsy Wife quilt... more about that will come later.  Anyway, I'm preparing to teach it at Quilting Mayhem, and I've been seriously considering making the quilt all over again! (What to the what?!)

I know the quilt is a beast, but I know there are ways to make it easier -which I'll be teaching if you are in the area and would like to learn before you set out on your own!  I think it would be fun to make the quilt again with a more specific color palette instead of just using whatever scraps come together.  So with this thought in mind I was thinking about what color palette I would want to work in.

This photo of a breakfast I ate while in Washington DC, October 2013 has so many of my favorite colors, so its really darn close to being what I think I want the next Gypsy Wife to be.  I'm not 100% set on it, but I'm thinking this is a great direction.  (P.S. If I make the quilt again I will use softer greys and almost whites as my background so all the blocks will really jump out.)

My collection this week is a little boring now that I'm really looking at it.  I guess that is because I couldn't pull the soft corally pink out of the photo.  I see pink, but every time I tried to pull it, it was to dark so I let it be.  If I were purchasing this bundle I would definitely pull more colors from the hair comb piece from "Good Hair Day" on the top.

This is going to be another short and sweet week! In fact, I feel like I've cheated a little bit because I used all of the same line of fabric!!  (Gasp)

I tried really hard, spent almost 3 hours searching for a bundle of fabrics, and I struggled with it so much. Right now it is getting really close to my regular bed time, and it is way past my Spring Break totally-exhausted-stay-at-home-almost-stepmom bedtime.

That's when I realized that "Wanderer" fit my palette almost perfectly so here it is!

The Fabrics:

(I figured you might as well check out the entire collection since I just pulled 5 fabrics from it anyway!)

I hope everyone else had an easier time than I did.

Check out all the Palettes/Bundles:

I'm so behind on blogging that I'm keeping this one short and sweet so I can get back to my projects.

The Fabrics:
(All from Quilting Mayhem) PSA: I'm kind of obsessed lately with the "Enchanted Pines" line of fabric. I love the coloring and texture so much! Also, I used the "Hello Bear" fabric for a second week in a row -it may be time to add it to my shopping list.

The Participants this week:
